Intern with the Harbor Hawks!

The Hyannis Athletic Association is thrilled to include a number of talented, motivated student interns among its volunteer ranks each summer. Interns with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks receive valuable experience in a wide variety of fields while enjoying a fun & relaxed atmosphere. Alumni of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks internship program have found exciting employment opportunities in the fields of broadcasting, sports information, marketing, public relations, and management.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

Gameday Operations - Prepare and assist with raffles, donations, sky box, welcome tents, banners, and varied unexpected situations that arise during a baseball game with as many as several thousand spectators in attendance. Maintain clean and organized work spaces and grounds at home games. Assisting the organization with public relations, special events, and other similar projects/duties as assigned. Must be available for all home games throughout the regular season & playoffs and special events.

Photography/Videography - Shooting still images and high-quality videos of in-game action capturing Harbor Hawk games, players, fields, and communities, editing images, collaborating with the social media team to produce photo/video projects, and attending games on a regular basis. Experience shooting video at sporting events and personal photography/videography equipment is required.

Social Media - Managing the Harbor Hawk’s platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok), collaborating with the creative team to develop consistent content, engaging with new and existing audiences to increase brand awareness, and attending games on a regular basis. Prior experience managing social media accounts required.

Marketing - Responsibilities for this internship will include: working closely with our Director of Corporate Development to plan/execute special events, which includes game day responsibilities; act as a sponsor contact. Identify and contact potential corporate and individual sponsors and donors. Create promotional and marketing information to be given to potential sponsors and donors.

Graphic Design - Creating graphics for team news, special events, and daily schedules, collaborating with the social media team on storytelling projects, and attending games on a regular basis.

Merchandise - Individuals should have an interest in retail management and marketing, and hopefully baseball. Preference will be given to college students who have retail management experience and/or sales experience and/or sports-management related majors. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

Writing - Writing at least three (3) stories a week (between post-game and feature stories), peer editing written content by fellow interns, assisting in writing the team’s weekly email newsletter, tweeting live update on “Gameday” account, and attending games on a regular basis. Strong written communication skills and attention to detail are required.

Corporate Partnerships Associate - Works directly with the Director of Corporate Development to acquire new business, develop new sponsorship opportunities, renew business, and activate sponsorships throughout the season. Please email Austin DeCouta (corporatedevelopment@harborhawks.org) to apply.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Before you proceed in the application process please be aware of the following requirements. All internships are volunteer positions (unpaid) Our intern program would be happy to work with your college or university to help you earn credits for the internship. We do ask that you give us the criteria in advance so we can work with you and the school to meet all the necessary requirements. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation. Interns are expected to be at all home games at least 1½ hours before game time. Interns must follow the same code of conduct as all volunteers and players in the organization. Interns are expected to participate in several special events outside of the home game schedule. Every effort will be made to provide the schedule to you as soon as it is available. It is expected that you will set up your work schedule around the home game/special event schedule of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
