Game Two gets out of hand, series shifts back to McKeon Park for pivotal Game Three

Games like Wednesday are why teams want to win Game One. Why teams work all season to earn homefield advantage. It makes losses like these sting less.
Hyannis (28-18-2) fell 13-3 to the Bourne Braves (26-21-1) in Game Two, setting up a winner-take-all rubber match Thursday for a spot in the championship.
This one ran away from the Harbor Hawks quickly, with Bourne putting up 13 runs in the first two innings. An impressive six scoreless innings of relief from Griffin O’Connor settled things down, but by that point the damage was done. Hyannis was able to make the loss slightly more respectable in the top of the eighth, scoring three runs, but as far as comebacks go, it was too little, too late. Trey Lipsey was able to record his seventh and eighth RBIs of the postseason, so not all was dire.
There’s nothing to do with this game except “forget about it,” as the fate of the season hangs in the balance of Game Three, which is set for Thursday, Aug. 10 at McKeon Park. First pitch is set for 6 p.m., but fans should get there early and be loud for the Hawks.
“We’ve all lost games before,” manager Eric Beattie said. “Forget about it, get some rest, wake up tomorrow, and be ready to win.”
