Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Tuesday, August 5, 2008Playoff Race Tightens
The Mets fell to the Chatham A's 7-4 Tuesday night at McKeon Park and could drop as far third in the Western Division. Grant Green (USC) was the star for Chatham, going 2-4 with two RBI and 3 runs scored.
The A's got on the board after just 5 pitches from Mets' starter Matt Ridings (Western Kentucky), as Kyle Seager (UNC) drew a leadoff walk and Green homered on the first pitch he saw. The Mets answered with 3 of their own in the bottom of the first, as Chris Dominguez' (Louisville) 2 RBI single was the big hit. Chatham continued to tack on a run here and a run there, scoring single runs in the third, sixth, and seventh innings, before adding two in the ninth. Gabe Cohen (UCLA) also had a two RBI night for the A's. Adam Warren (UNC) picked up his third win of the season for Chatham and Ridings fell to 1-3 on the season. Brad Boxberger (USC) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 9th save of the season. Hyannis travels to Cotuit on Wednesday before finishing the regular season at home on Thursday against Falmouth. Archives
