Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Tuesday, July 15, 2008Rain On The Met's Parade
The Hyannis Mets and the Harwich Mariners have already had trouble trying to play this baseball game. The first attempt earlier in the season was rained out, and it appeared that this one was headed that way as well. However after about an hour rain delay, baseball was played at McKeon Park in Hyannis.
The Mariners struck first in the second inning as they were able to get two across the plate on three hits. Brandon Belt (Texas) led off the inning with a single and then advanced to third on a double down the right field line by DJ LeMahieu (LSU). In the next at-bat Mark Fleury (UNC) singled up the middle to score Belt. LeMahieu then scored on a sacrifice fly by Chase Leavitt (Arkansas). The Mets got two runs back between the third and fourth innings. Curt Casali (Vanderbilt) walked to get on in the third and was pushed to third base on a double by Trent Ashcraft (East Carolina). Casali scored on a wild pitch. In the fourth inning Ben Paulsen (Clemson) had a solo-homerun to right center. The Mariners scored again in the fifth when Shaver Hansen (Baylor) scored on a double by Belt. The Mets were able to bring the game to a tie in the seventh on a Casey Frawley (Stetson) RBI. That was as much as Hyannis could muster on this night as they had a rough eigth inning giving up four runs on four hits and not being able to come back. Brian Dupra (Notre Dame) picked up the win for Harwich and Will Weidig (Brown) took the loss for the Mets. Hyannis will be in action tonight in Wareham at 7:00 and will be back at McKeon on Wednesday night with a 7:00 game against Cotuit. Archives
