Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Tuesday, July 1, 2008Mets bats continue to struggle
Five Falmouth pitchers combined to shut down the Hyannis bats, as the Commodores posted a 4-0 win over the Mets at Guv Fuller Field on Tuesday night. Jonathan Kountis of Ohio Dominican went 5 innings of 2 hit ball for the win and Tulane's Preston Claiborne wrapped it up for his first save of the summer.
Falmouth opened the scoring in the second inning as Jimmy Cesario of Houston led off with a single, stole second, and came around to score on Diego Seastrunk's (Rice) double to put the Commodores on top 1-0. The home team scored their other three runs in the eighth inning. Cesario and Creighton's Darin Ruf each had RBI hits and Trevor Coleman (Missouri) scored on a wild pitch to provide the final margin. Hyannis starter Central Florida's Austin Hudson went 4 2/3 innings, allowing just 1 run and striking out 2. Chris Dominguez of Louisville delivered the lone extra base hit for the Mets in the form of a fourth inning double. Hyannis travels to Brewster to take on the Whitecaps on Wednesday, before returning home to host the Harwich Mariners on Thursday. Archives
