Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Sunday, July 6, 2008Braves 3rd is too much for Mets
Hyannis- Bryce Stowell(UC-Irvine) went 8 shut-out innings allowing just 3 hits, along with a 5 run top of the 3rd helped the Braves defeat the Mets 6-1. Dusty Coleman(Whichita State) and Stephen Batts(East Carolina) added two RBIs each for the Braves(9-9).
The Braves got the scoring started in the top of the 3rd by getting back-to-back-to-back singles with one out. After a sacrifice fly by Jamie Johnson(Oaklahoma), Coleman came up and laced a bases clearing triple to center. Two batters later, Batts stepped in a double to left-center scoring two more to cap off the 5 run 3rd. Despite leaving 5 men on base, the Mets(10-7) did not score until the bottom of the 9th when Ben Paulsen(Clemson) doubled to start the inning, two batters later, Marcus Jones(NC State) drove Paulsen in with a sacrifice fly to center. The Mets will get back on the diamond Sunday July 6 in Cotuit at 5pm, this will be the 2nd game in the Patriot Cup which the Mets have a 1-0 lead over their cross-town rivals. Archives
