Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Sunday, June 22, 2008Mets win third straight
Starting pitcher Andrew Carraway (Virginia) turned in another solid performance and Russell Brewer (Vanderbilt) picked up his league-best fourth save as Hyannis defeated Wareham 4-1 Saturday night at McKeon Park. The Mets have now won three in a row and are 5-2 overall, while the Gatemen dropped to 3-3.
Carraway (2-0) gave up no runs on three hits while fanning seven and walking one in five innings of work. In two starts, he has pitched 10.1 scoreless innings and given up just seven hits to go along with 14 strikeouts. Offensively, third baseman Chris Dominguez (Louisville) hit a two-run, opposite-field homer in the bottom of the first and added a double in the fifth. First baseman Ben Paulsen (Clemson) had a two-run single and finished 3-for-4 on the evening. Austin Adams (Faulkner) struck out the side in the eighth and Brewer pitched a one-two-three ninth, including two strikeouts, to earn another save. He has now pitched five scoreless innings, surrendering just two hits and one walk while fanning five. Prior to the game, the Mets held a formal dedication of the brand new lighting system at McKeon Park as several people were honored for their time and generosity. Hyannis returns to action Sunday at Bourne (2 p.m.) before hosting Harwich on Monday. Archives
