Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Sunday, June 29, 2008Mets Top Kettleers
Hyannis- Winning pitcher Ashur Tolliver(Arkansas-Little Rock) pitched 3 innings of relief to notch his 2nd win of the season as the Mets beat Cotuit 4-3. Ryan Eden(New Orleans) led the Mets offense with 3 hits and an RBI.
Chris Dominguez(Louisville) got things started in the bottom of the 1st with a double that was nearly hit out of the park. Ben Paulsen (Clemson) scored from 1st on that same hit. The Kettleers didn't stay behind long, as they quickly tied the game in the top of the 2nd, and continued to leave the score tied 1-1 until the Mets broke through in the bottom of the 5th. Eden shot a double into the gap to score Trent Ashcraft(East Carolina), who singled to start the inning. The Kettleers could have broken the game open in the top of the 6th, but poor base running put an end to the threat, and the Mets escaped allowing only 1 run. In the bottom of the 6th, Casey Frawley(Stetson) cranked an RBI double to left center. Two batters later, Ashcraft drove Frawley in to put the Mets ahead for good. Russell Brewer(Vanderbilt) came in to pitch a scoreless 9th to earn his 6th save. The Mets (7-5) will play a make-up game vs Harwich on Monday, June 30, at 7 pm in Hyannis. This game will be played in its entirety after it was called due to rain in the bottom of the 3rd last Tuesday. Archives
