Mets take two straight

Thanks in part to some poor defense on the part of Orleans and strong pitching from Austin Hudson (Central Florida) and Jason Franzblau (Arizona State), the Mets topped the Cardinals 8-1 on Friday night, improving to 4-2.
A five run second inning proved to be the difference as the Mets were given two extra outs and made the most of them, as Trent Ashcraft (East Carolina), Ryan Eden (New Orleans), and Chris Dominguez (Louisville) all had RBI singles. For Dominguez, it was his first hit of the summer.
Hudson, the starting pitcher, picked up his first win of the season, after going 5 innings of shutout baseball. He did not allow a hit through 4 1/3 innings. Franzblau, signed to a temporary contract, tossed the other four innings, allowing just one run and striking out four, while picking up the save.
Brown's Matt Nuzzo capped off the Mets scoring with a two-run double in the eighth to put the game away. It was also Nuzzo's first hit of the season.
The Mets play the final game of their four game homestand tomorrow night against the Wareham Gatemen. There will be a pregame ceremony honoring all those who helping put up the lights this offseason.
