Mets Defeat Braves in Rain Soaked Game

Bourne- The Mets extended their winning streak to 4 after a 4-3 win over the Bourne Braves. Chris Dominguez (Louisville) had two hits, which led the Mets offense. Despite being out-hit 11-4 the Mets (6-2) took advantage of walks and errors by the Bourne defense. Will Weidig(Brown) got the win in 2.2 innings of relief.

Luke Murton(Georgia Tech) got the Mets on the board in the 1st with a sacrifice fly that scored Ryan Eden(New Orleans), who led off the game with a walk. After Austin Adams(Faulkner) was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Joey Gonzales(UC-Riverside) struck out, but an error allowed him to reach safely. Casey Frawley(Stetson) and Dominguez came into score on the play. In the top of the 2nd, catcher Curt Casali(Vanderbilt) walked to start the inning and was knocked in by Dominguez.

The Braves had a chance to take control of the game in the bottom of the 7th when they had the bases loaded with just 1 out. But after a failed safety squeeze and a strike out by reliever Ashur Tolliver(Arkansas-Little Rock) the threat was tamed. Russell Brewer(Vanderbilt) came in for the save, his 5th of the year, and made a spectacular diving catch on a bunt attempt to end the game.

Gonzales and center fielder Trent Ashcraft(East Carolina) had the other two hits to complete the Mets offense today. The Mets will play again Monday June 23 at home vs Brewster at 7 pm.
