Hyannis Team Coverage 2008Friday, June 27, 2008Mets' Bats Silent in Orleans
Five Cardinals pitchers combined on a one hit shutout of the Mets on Friday night, as Orleans handed Hyannis their second straight loss, 1-0, at Elderidge Park.
Andrew Carraway (Virginia) started for the Mets and went six innings, allowing just one run on three hits, but still took the loss. The run was the first he has allowed all season. Rob Rasmussen (UCLA) earned the win for the Cardinals, pitching five shutout innings and tallying eight punchouts. The lone run of the game crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning. Gary Brown (Cal State Fullerton) led off the frame with a base hit, was sacrificed over by Cole Figueroa (Florida), and scored on single off the bat of Angelo Songco (Loyola Marymount). The only Mets hit of the evening came in their half of the fourth, a double by Chris Dominguez (Louisville). Hyannis returns to the field tomorrow night at Chatham, against whom they are 1-1 this summer. The Mets return home on Sunday to host Cotuit. Archives
