As the first true freshman to start at catcher for Ohio State since 1989, Dan finished fourth on the Buckeyes last year with 29 RBIs. At Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, he was named first team all-state by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association. Playing for the winningest baseball coach in Ohio high school baseball history, Mike Cameron, Dan’s team was tops in the state polls his senior year in which he hit .415. He was also named his team's best defensive player twice.
