HYANNIS — The old scoreboard is still there in right field. The lights are out now. The spots for “Guest” and “Hyannis” and at-bats, inning number and count never to flicker on again. Now, it’s just a vestige, a relic, a blue block of wood.

Hyannis Manager. Gassman Resigns

HYANNIS — The Hyannis Harbor Hawks have begun searching for a replacement for their longest-serving coach, field manager Chad Gassman.

Improvements Planned

The Hyannis Harbor Hawks have received a $700,000 grant to make improvements at Judy Walden Scarafile Field at McKeon Park.

Women In CCBL

Judy Walden Scarafile got her start as a scorekeeper and baseball writer for her high school newspaper. When she got to college at the University of Connecticut, she brought her portfolio — "a glorified scrapbook in those days," she says — to the sports editor and asked to cover the baseball team.

A call from the Cape

"As he waited, Bradley’s thoughts may have drifted to much earlier in the day, which began with a phone call back on the Cape from Tino DiGiovanni, one of his family hosts in 2009 when Bradley played for the Hyannis Mets."

Alumni Devin Smeltzer

“We hear hundreds of stories every year about Major Leaguers visiting children in need. It isn't every day, however, that one of those kids ends up becoming a professional baseball player himself.”

Pepiot Awarded Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Week

Ryan Pepiot (Butler) has been nearly unhittable over the past week. And on Tuesday he earned recognition for it. The Cape Cod League announced that Pepiot won Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week.

“I just want to thank my teammates and coaches have helped me a lot. Coach [Ray] Korn has helped me with my command and using all four of my pitches. My teammates have had my back the whole time making plays for me,” Pepiot said. “I started staying within myself. Just gone back to pitching, not trying to throw. Just trust myself. Trust my teammates.”

In his three appearances last week, the Carmel, Indiana native tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings, including earning the win in the Harbor Hawks’ 2-0 victory over Harwich on June 25th. Pepiot dominated in each game he came on in relief, facing the minimum through the entire workload. He allowed just one baserunner via a hit-by-pitch, surrendering no walks or hits and striking out nine batters to earn Week Three honors.

Pepiot has been a large part in why Hyannis is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, boosting them to second in the standings of the entire league coming into Tuesday. This is the first accolade a Harbor Hawk has received in the 2018 season.

Alumni Ryan Flaherty

"Tonight Ryan Flaherty became just the third third baseman in Atlanta franchise history to score four runs and collect four hits in a game, joining Chipper Jones (1995, 2000, 2001) and Terry Pendleton (1991)."
